Fundraise – Educators
Plastic Free Seas is extremely grateful to everyone who supports our programmes financially. We do not receive government funding and unlike some charities, we do not pay people to fundraise for us. Money donated enables us to offer education programmes free of charge to schools.
Over the years there have been some fantastic fundraisers organised by individuals and groups. Here are a few examples below to inspire you …
Green Week Fundraisers
Green Weeks have become annual events in many schools, as have World Ocean Day and other environmentally-focused days. These school events raise awareness and often involve the students and wider community in taking action. They can also be an opportunity for fundraising.
PFS has been involved frequently to support the school’s activities.
Students, school clubs and PTAs have led fundraising drives, dress down days, dress blue or green days, or held competitions for students to show off their environmental themed work.
No 'Excuse for Single Use' Cutlery Set Fundraiser
Are you looking for a project or competition prize? These sets are the perfect waste reduction kit.
PFS has benefitted from students and clubs selling the cutlery sets at fairs or through their school websites/newsletters to support the work of Plastic Free Seas.
This cutlery set is ideal to use as a way to fundraise or to reward a waste-reduction champion!

Food-Based Fundraisers
Students have had great success selling cakes, donuts, cookies and other sweet treats at school fairs, community stalls and events.
For a Hong Kong twist, a group of students (pictured) made and sold 500 dumplings at school.
The ideas are endless for food and drink related fundraising. Be sure to remind everyone to bring reusable containers to take home their goodies!
Sports-Based Fundraisers
Over the years, schools and even students have used sports events to fundraise for Plastic Free Seas. There has been money raised from basketball games, duathalons, triathlons, running races, biking, hiking, swimming, paddling, standup paddle boarding, kayaking, rugby, dragon boating and more.
Whether it’s a team event or an individual challenge, sport-based fundraising is a healthy, fun and effective way to raise funds.
'Connect, Care and Write' - Fundraising Postcards
Hong Kong’s marine life is in trouble. These postcards are beautiful to send or to keep as artwork.

Twopresents Fundraisers
Twopresents is a unique, award-winning party invitation platform with a charitable twist. It allows the party organiser to send invitations through the platform if they wish, and most importantly to share their celebration by raising funds for a charity of their choice. It’s an easy way to make a difference and celebrate at the same time.
PFS has benefited greatly over the years with hundreds of children (and adults) sharing their celebrations.

This category is limited only by your imagination! PFS has received donations from a variety of activities such as:
* Trashion (Trash+Fashion) shows, birthday parties and secondhand toy, book and clothing sales
* Artwork created from upcycled beach plastic
* Sculptures, some of which have gone into galleries and auctions, photographs and paintings
* Pieces of jewellery crafted from beach plastic and sea glass
* Gameboards created and manufactured for sale
